Philadelphia's Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul is a beautiful Italian-style building, and is home to a particularly large Roman Catholic following. Dating back to the mid-19th century, the cathedral took almost 20 years to complete and features impressive architecture, with a large dome and vast interior, full of interesting and historic features.

One of Philadelphia's historical highlights, Christ Church was completed in 1754 and has a huge 200-foot steeple and symmetrical façade with arched windows. Based on works by Sir Christopher Wren and built on the site of an earlier, late 17th-century wooden church, this fine Georgian edifice features brass plaques that mark the original pews of the likes of George and Martha Washington and Betsy Ross.
